Headmaster’s Welcome

Welcome to Kingswood House, where we have long enjoyed an outstanding reputation as a leading school for boys. I am delighted to confirm that we will now also welcome girls from September 2021. Our Senior Years opened in September 2016, thereby extending our exceptional academic and pastoral provision through to GCSE. We offer an all-round education, underpinned by exciting curricular and co-curricular opportunities, with a strong emphasis on character development and preparation for life beyond the school gate.

The KHS Way

At Kingswood House, there is a philosophy of inclusivity, tolerance and respect. All pupils are encouraged to participate in every aspect of school life and this provides a wonderful platform for them to grow in resilience and self-esteem. A rich variety of opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom, engenders an avid natural curiosity and propagates a willingness to try new things. With the advent of our flourishing Senior Years, parents are able to consider their options carefully, secure in the knowledge that Kingswood House offers an excellent pathway through to GCSE. We are also developing KHS for the future and have recently built an impressive Lower Prep and Upper Prep Department. The “Peter Brooks’ building, boasting customised teaching accommodation for our Senior Years, opened in September 2018 together with a new Design & Technology suite and Drama studio. This website captures the very essence of KHS but please do come and see us for yourself; the warmth and friendliness of our school community is best experienced first hand. You can also register for the next Open Morning or book an individual appointment to meet with me and tour the school. I look forward to welcoming you to Kingswood House.

As an English teacher by trade, he retains a fundamental love of literature and one of his quirkier secrets is that he is a member of the Sherlock Holmes Society.

Kingswood House was short-listed for a prestigious Independent School of the Year award in 2018. It is a source of great pride that the wonderful attributes of Kingswood House have been recognised by the Independent Schools’ panel of judges. I commend my fantastic team of teaching and support staff, who work so hard with our pupils to help them achieve their full potential both in and out of the classroom, in many areas of school life. In November 2019 we were delighted to be winners of the School Travel Awards prize for 'My Best School Trip' in recognition of our Year 9 residential trip.
