Science

Science is a fantastic subject to study at Kingswood House. It attempts to describe and understand the very nature of our universe and everything within it.

Our dedicated staff teach in a way that makes imaginations blossom and challenges our pupils to make the complex simple whilst leaving them with the opportunity to sit and wonder.

Science at our school is fun, exciting, challenging and relevant. The subject enjoys a high profile. Science teachers stimulate and encourage the natural curiosity of our pupils. We build upon their experiences and prior knowledge and empower them in their learning.

High expectations and effective opportunities for all students to learn mean that pupils enjoy lessons, gain knowledge and understanding and experience success. The department recognises that pupils bring their own interests and strengths to class and these are incorporated and welcomed into lessons.

Throughout the school, Science is taught in an investigative way. Our excellent facilities and resources ensure that practical investigation is central to learning. We also make use of external events, outside organisations, visiting speakers and the wider community to broaden and enhance learning. Advances in Science occur quickly and sometimes law-making cannot keep up. Pupils are encouraged to recognise the need for responsible Science practices.

We prioritise the enjoyment of the subject and aim to instil a sense of excitement and awe. We have three rules: stay safe, have fun and be the best you can be.
