How to Join KHS

Current Streamlined Admissions Process

Prospective parents are invited to make initial contact with our Head of Admissions, Mrs Zoe Ashton on 01372 723590 or via email

She will ask for information about your son or daughter, check availability of places and arrange an appointment in person, or online, with the Headmaster or any other key members of staff, as required. This will naturally depend upon the national situation in respect of the pandemic and may vary if there is a lockdown or sudden change in the tier status in Epsom & Ewell. It is always our preference to invite prospective families into the school, if it is safe to do so.

At present, we are operating a streamlined process for conditional offers based upon receipt of reports and an academic screening, either online or in person. This will replace the normal ‘taster day’ experience until further notice due to the logistical difficulty of mixing bubbles, especially indoors, at the school. If possible, we prefer that an academic screening occurs on site, with due precautions in place, and aim to schedule a ‘taster moment’ for candidates to briefly meet their prospective classmates outside, at a safe social distance, and have an informal ‘get to know you’ chat with the Form Teacher or Divisional Head.

In summary, the current process is as follows:

  1. Initial enquiry via
  2. Meeting with the Head of Admissions and Headmaster, in person or online, with a socially-distanced / Covid-safe tour of the school
  3. Registration
  4. Academic Screening, in person or online, with the SENCo or Assistant SENCo and ‘taster moment’ (when possible)
  5. Conditional Offer and feedback

Looking ahead, we are open for business as usual and aim to offer a schedule of Open Mornings and admissions events at regular intervals throughout the school year. We look forward to welcoming you to Kingswood House in the near future.

Taster Day and Offer of a Place – normal process

A mutually agreed day will be arranged for the child to attend the school. During the Taster Day the child will have the opportunity to experience a day at Kingswood House and meet the peer group of the class. During this visit, the SENco will meet with the child on 1:1 basis to talk and do a few informal tests to assess the level of performance. The Headmaster will contact the parents after all feedback has been gathered in order to make a fair decision, based upon a range of evidence. A decision will always be made in the best interests of the child. If a pupil satisfies our entry criteria, a place is available and a satisfactory reference from the pupil’s current school received, then an offer will be made. Written confirmation will be sent – and once accepted – full joining details will follow.

We do ask that you pay a Registration Fee of £100 before attending a Taster Day.

When you visit us, please park at the front of the School.
