To support their Victorian topic work, Year 3 had a fantastic day out last Thursday, at Holly Lodge in Richmond Park. In the morning they had lessons with the very formidable Mrs Sawyer in a Victorian school room of 1869 – they came out very grateful to be pupils at Kingswood House in 2014!
After lunch, the boys stepped back in time again and entered Mr Palmer’s Chymist, where they learnt about health in Victorian times and made their own pills, powders and extracts. The Chymist shop was furnished from the original interior, artefacts and dispensing records from a Victorian pharmacy in Mortlake – the boys were very thrilled to be allowed to use the original pill shaping equipment.
