As the Rugby World Cup got underway the choir at Kingswood House School dedicated their annual Choir Evening in September to music associated with the Rugby World Cup countries and teams.

‘Swing Low’ was a programme of inspirational music to celebrate the tournament and included the ‘World in Union’ RWC anthem plus the National Anthems from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Other Six Nations countries were represented by La Marseillaise and Il Canto Degli Italiani.

Mrs Philippa Watkins, Head of Music, commented:
“It was a wonderful evening full of memorable tunes all sung with great passion and gusto. The boys sang in French, Italian and even managed Irish accents for “Ireland’s Call”.”

The 50 strong choir, plus staff, all dressed appropriately and looked the part wearing their own choice of rugby shirts, with a huge range of countries and teams represented.

It was a sell-out performance at the Adrian Mann Theatre, NESCOT with friends and family joining in the final song choice, ‘Jerusalem’.

Kingswood House Choir, which includes boys from Year 3 to Year 8, have been rehearsing for the event since the beginning of last term.
