“It is rare to find such a magical alchemy as in the Lower Prep at Kingswood House where shyness and diffidence gradually evolve into confidence and enthusiasm.”
Kingswood House is delighted to announce that a Reception class will open in September 2021.
There will be a maximum of ten pupils, with a balanced gender ratio, housed in a generously-appointed double classroom with bi-fold doors and easy access to free-flow and outside play. In addition to high-quality teaching, a wealth of resources and a stimulating array of activities will ensure that the boys and girls are able to enjoy every facet of school life and grow into our Kingswood House family with the values of Respect, Integrity & Endeavour at their core.
Our new Reception class at Kingswood House will be the foundation for a voyage of discovery through Lower Prep, which runs up until Year 4, with a designated form teacher complemented by specialist teaching for subjects such as sport, music and art. Due to the optimal class size, each child will benefit from an unprecedented level of personalised teaching and learning in order to help them make strong progress across all areas of the Foundation Stage as well as an outstanding level of pastoral care, for which the school is extremely well-reputed.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Miss Laura de Klerk as our new Reception teacher in September. Currently working in Reception at Rokeby School, and originally heralding from South Africa, Laura will bring great enthusiasm and knowledge to the role. She is looking forward to joining our staff team at KHS and meeting Reception families in due course.
Fees have been set at a very competitive rate of £3500 per term for September and since the school is also a member of the Early Years Free Education Scheme, savings can be made against this cost for fifteen hours per week, which we can help arrange upon confirmation of a place at the school. Additional incentives for early registration, or bursarial support, may also be applicable and can be discussed with the Headmaster.
The admissions process into Reception is non-selective in academic terms but a reference from your child’s current setting should accompany a completed registration form. Where there is any doubt about the suitability of a child for our friendly, supportive school, we will discuss this with parents and aim to observe the child in their normal environment before confirmation of a place.
Initial online meetings are available by appointment as are Covid-friendly tours of the school outside normal working hours.
