Reception Class

“It is rare to find such a magical alchemy as in the Lower Prep at Kingswood House where shyness and diffidence gradually evolve into confidence and enthusiasm.”

Kingswood House opened a new Reception class in September 2021 and is currently recruiting pupils for entry in September 2023 onwards.

With a maximum of just ten pupils, a balanced gender ratio, and housed in a generously-appointed double classroom with bi-fold doors and easy access to free-flow and outside play, the experience of Reception at Kingswood House is unparalleled. In addition to high-quality teaching, a wealth of resources and a stimulating array of activities, the boys and girls are able to enjoy every facet of school life and grow into our family with the values of Respect, Integrity & Endeavour at their core.

Mrs Ibbitson – Head of Lower Prep including Reception

Our Reception class at Kingswood House is the foundation for a voyage of discovery through Lower Prep, which runs up until Year 4, with a designated form teacher complemented by specialist teaching for subjects such as sport, music and art. Due to the optimal class size, each child will benefit from an unprecedented level of personalised teaching and learning in order to help them make strong progress across all areas of the Foundation Stage as well as an outstanding level of pastoral care, for which the school is extremely well-reputed.

Fees have been set at a very competitive rate and since the school is also a member of the Early Years Free Education Scheme, savings can be made against this cost for fifteen hours per week, which we can help arrange upon confirmation of a place at the school. Additional incentives for early registration, or bursarial support, may also be applicable and can be discussed with the Headmaster.

The admissions process into Reception is non-selective in academic terms but a reference from your child’s current setting should accompany a completed registration form. Where there is any doubt about the suitability of a child for our friendly, supportive school, we will discuss this with parents and aim to observe the child in their normal environment before confirmation of a place.

For more information, or to register your interest, please contact Mrs Zoe Ashton, Head of Admissions by email at admissions@kingswoodhouse.org or telephone her on 01372 723590.

Welcome to the Head

Matthew Bryan

“It’s a huge privilege to be coming in as Head at Kingswood House, particularly in this its 125th year. KHS is an exciting, kind, progressive and ambitious school and I’m looking forward to building on the foundations laid by my predecessors to take the school from strength to strength”.
