Monday 14th November saw the first of a series of lectures for Year 9 boys. The idea of these senior lectures is for the boys to learn about something new and exciting which they may not cover as part of their normal school curriculum, to hear from a specialist in a certain field, to be motivated to go and try something different or simply to open their minds up to new possibilities and inspire them.
Our first lecture was on driver-less cars and was entitled ‘The Future is already here’. This was delivered by Peter Elliot who works for The Future of Movement (www.futureofmovement.com). The lecture was a huge success with a great turn out from boys, parents and staff. It was fascinating to learn about how technology is shaping the future which the boys are going to live in. The question of ‘will our boys ever need to learn to drive?’ was particularly thought provoking. Some of the questions asked by our Year 9 students were really impressive and showed a deeper level of thinking than was perhaps expected for our first lecture.

Thank you so much to Peter for giving up his time to come and talk to the boys. The Spring term lecture is currently in the process of being confirmed and the speaker will be announced shortly.
