Year 6 travelled down to Hastings to see the site where the Battle of Hastings was actually fought 950 years ago. Having visited the museum, (where copies of the weapons used could be handled) the boys re-enacted the Battle, with Rhys Battrick as William the Conqueror and Ayaan Anis as Harold Godwinson. The battle was fought with great enthusiasm and many a battle cry. The expected side won!
They then drove to Bodiam Castle. Here they viewed the building from the outside with its moat, learning about the castle’s features before crossing the bridge and going inside. Most of the boys climbed the narrow staircase to the top of the tower to see the far-reaching view.
