Dear Parents

Mr Duncan Murphy

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the new Headmaster of Kingswood House from September 2017 will be Mr Duncan Murphy.  Duncan is currently Head of Claremont Fan Court Prep School, a position he has held for almost five years.  Before that Duncan was Deputy Headmaster at Milbourne Lodge School in Esher for four years.  Duncan is married to Victoria and has two step-children, Jasmin and Jack, who have both finished their studies, and a younger son, William, who is eight years old.  Duncan is a member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and has a wealth of experience in IAPS schools.

Duncan gained a BA (Hons) in English from the University of Sheffield, a PGCE from the University of Surrey and an MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Buckingham.  Duncan has represented the University of Buckingham as a part-time tutor for the Independent PGCE for the last five years.  He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, the Chartered Management Institute and the Royal College of Teachers.

Outside of school, Duncan enjoys spending time with his family and walking his two dogs, Chloe and Cally, who keep everyone on their toes.  He enjoys all sports, particularly cricket, and likes to keep abreast of current affairs and politics.  As an English teacher, he has a fundamental love of literature and one of his quirkier secrets is that he is a member of the Sherlock Holmes Society.

Over the coming months, Duncan hopes to attend as many Kingswood House functions as he can and is very much looking forward to meeting as many parents and pupils as possible.  We are very fortunate to have secured his services and I know you will join with me in welcoming Duncan to the Kingswood House community.

And finally, we are also fortunate to have secured the continuing ‘non-executive’ services of Peter Brooks, who will be available to Duncan in his first year as Headmaster.  A welcome extension of Peter’s long and illustrious connection with the School.

With very best wishes

Yours sincerely

Chris Shipley
