The Foundation Stage

Children in the Foundation Stage are split into three groups: Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception. Three to four year olds will attend Nursery or Kindergarten with the younger children being in the Nursery and older ones in Kindergarten. Children move into Reception in the September term following their fourth birthday.


Attendance

There are set mornings for each of the age groups. This is to ensure that all Nursery and Kindergarten are taught a wide range of skills and that they are given the opportunity to take part in as many different activities as possible. It also ensures an effective use of staff time and administration of the curriculum.


Nursery Education Grant

Kingswood House School is a registered setting claiming the Nursery Education Grant. Children currently receive funding from Surrey for the six terms prior to their fifth birthday. Your child is entitled to 38 weeks of free part-time nursery education a year. At Kingswood House, we deliver the Foundation Stage curriculum for 33 weeks a year. Because Surrey County Council funds eligible children in half term blocks, you will not be able to claim the balance of weeks at another setting.
